Written by South London Branch | Posted on 21st October 2016

Once again, our Chairman, Shipmate Cyril Mabin, welcomed all aboard T. S. Trafalgar for our meeting held on Sunday, 16th October 2016. I am pleased to report that thirteen of our members were able to be present. It was good that Shipmate Alf Solomon’s daughter, Yvette, was able to bring Alf to the meeting and to stay for our deliberations. Irene’s funeral took place on 21 October 2016 at Croydon Crematorium. Cyril Mabin and Iune Baker represented the branch and I conducted the service. Alf hopes to join the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society home in Woodmansterne, Banstead in the near future. We all wish Alf well.

Shipmate Ron Harrison misses his participation in the branch and would be pleased to hear from any members. Shipmate George Chandler reported on the state of his health following his operation to have a pacemaker fitted. l am delighted to say that George is in very good form and enjoying life. Long may that continue.Peter Lynn has very kindly agreed to lay our branch wreath at the Hornet Memorial on Remembrance Sunday, 13 November 2016. Our Treasurer, Shipmate Cliff Coe, announced that the branch was still in the black.

Our Social Secretary, June Baker, reported that T. S. Trafalgar have offered to provide us with a Christmas Lunch at our next meeting. Eventually it was agreed that this should take place on: Saturday 10th December 2016 at 12 noon for 13:00. If you have not already informed June Baker that you hope to be able to attend, please phone June to discuss your choice of menu. Offers of raffle prizes would be most welcome. I do hope that as many as possible will be able to come and make this a jolly occasion.

With all good wishes for a happy and peaceful Christmas from

Grahame Berridge, Branch Secretary
